Please be sure to report the following to the admissions unit:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Insulin-dependent diabetes

  • Non-insulin-dependent diabetes

  • Fasting blood sugar above 150 mg/dL

  • Weight above 105 kg

  • Date of most recent surgery and biopsy

  • Date of most recent chemotherapy

  • Date of most recent radiotherapy

  • Seizures and anxiety

  • Inability to lie down for 25 minutes for any reason (e.g., severe cough, seizures, vomiting, pain, etc.)

  • Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)

  • Any medical history

  • Inability to control urine or stool

Please observe the following starting 48 hours before the scan:

  • If you have diabetes, be sure to obtain the complete guidance sheet for diabetic patients via the website, the sent link, or from scheduling staff, and refrain from taking metformin (under any brand name) or any combination drugs containing metformin starting 48 hours before the scan.

  • The ideal fasting blood sugar level for a PET scan should be below 200 mg/dL. If your fasting blood sugar upon arrival is above 200 mg/dL, the PET scan will be cancelled and rescheduled for another day.

  • Avoid heavy physical activity, strenuous exercise, and massage.

Please observe the following starting 24 hours before the scan:

  • Reduce your physical activities and rest more.
