Before undergoing the scan, discontinue certain heart medications, including the following, after consulting your treating physician:
Atenolol, Propranolol, Carvedilol, Coridor, Sotalol, Concor (Bisoprolol), Metoral, Metoprolol, Metohexal, Diltiazem, Adalat, Nifedipine, Cordobin, Amlopress, Amlodipine, Amilotelmik, Verapamil, Valops, Nicorandil, Valzomix, Lansoprazole, Omeprazole, Pantoprazole, Esomeprazole (Ezonyum) should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the scan.
Nicorandil, Nitrocontin, Sostac, Isosor, Isosorbide, Nitroglycerin, Theophylline, and Aminophylline should be discontinued 24 hours prior to the scan.
Caffeinated beverages such as tea, coffee, energy drinks, and soda, as well as chocolate, should not be consumed 24 hours prior to the scan.
Please have light meals prior to the scan, and on the night before the scan, consume 2 tablespoons of olive oil after dinner.
Please fast for four hours prior to the scan.
Please take a shower before the scan, and gentlemen should shave their chest and abdominal hair.
Please wear or bring a front-open shirt with loose sleeves and no metal buttons, and kindly avoid wearing or bringing jewelry and accessories as much as possible.
Respected ladies are requested to visit without wearing upper undergarments (bras).
Do not smoke on the day of the scan.
Bring your medical records (including echocardiography, ECG, stress test, angiography, etc.) that you have previously undergone.
The presence of one adult companion next to the patient is mandatory until the scan is completed.
Please maintain a distance of 3 meters from pregnant women and children under the age of 10 for up to 24 hours after the scan.
If you have asthma, urinary incontinence, are pregnant, or breastfeeding, please make sure to inform the department specialist.
If you have diabetes, consume a light breakfast without tea 4 hours prior to your scan appointment, and take your diabetes medication or insulin as per your usual routine. Otherwise, make sure to bring your medication or insulin with you.
Be sure to bring fatty foods (such as Olivier salad sandwiches, boiled eggs, cream or butter, cream-filled pastries, etc.) along with a carbonated beverage.
If your schedule for attending this center changes, please notify us as soon as possible.
The average waiting time for a heart scan is 4 hours.
The method of performing a stress test (either as an exercise test or a pharmacological test using dipyridamole or dobutamine) is determined by the cardiologist and the nurse present in the department.
